Balloon hurling

The International Federation of Balloon Hurling has been disbanded after 120 years following epidemiological research by the University of Deft showed that no-one had ever practised the sport.

It's a sad day for all of us, said Grustki Warblehopper, outgoing president of the IFBH, but frankly what's the point?

Hervi Buttspanner, organiser and disbander of the 1982 north-east Netherlands regional heats admitted the complicated rules may have put people off. The truth is, he said, very few people have access to organic, recycled, farm-fresh ballon fabric, nor that number of certified cattle.

Duck for president bid fails

A last minute third-candidate bid for US President from Daffy Duck failed when it emerged he was born in Kenya. Ridicule is the burden of genius, Mr Duck commented.
